Spinal surgery is performed to correct spinal issues that cause pain. Back surgery is used to relieve the pain and/or numbness associated with this pain, which often radiates to other areas of the back, arms and legs. Spinal surgeries are performed to correct possible structural abnormalities which were caused by bad posters, spinal injuries, sports injuries, accidents, sedentary lifestyle, overexertion etc. Most of the spine and back injuries, have become a problem that is affecting more and more people around the world.

Computer-assisted image-guided technologies, bio-resorbable (naturally absorbing), flexible, and radiolucent spinal implants are playing important role in this market and it is also deciding the pace of transformation.

New and improved spine surgical procedures have a promising future. These technologies make surgeries sound, safe and easy with limited risk. So, patients are at very low risk when using up to date technologies. Globally many countries are investing huge amounts in robotic research and development. This research is not only limited to medical field but also to every other industry.

During recent pandemic and healthcare challenges robotics is expected to speed up the treatment and surgery procedures. There are efforts being made to increase the adoption of robotics in healthcare services.

There are two types of Spinal surgery: Open Spine Surgery and Minimally invasive spine surgery

During standard open spine surgery, the surgeon creates a large incision usually about six inches long in the back and dissects the spinal muscles to pull them away from the bone in a process called retraction.

In minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS), surgeons use specialized instruments to perform spinal procedures through small incisions. Because the incisions made during MIS are much smaller than in open procedures, there is less chance of muscle and soft tissue injury.

Due to various advantages, minimally invasive spine surgery is getting popular day by day. Even in emerging economies, a greater number of spine surgeries are carried out through minimally invasive methods. Companies are mainly in the device manufacturing and they are competing closely with each other. Innovation is one of the most important and key strategy as it has to be for any health-related market. However, companies in the market have also opted and successfully driven inorganic growth strategies like mergers & acquisition and so on.

Key players in Global Spine Surgery market are Aesculap, Inc., DePuy Synthes, Medtronic, Stryker, Zimmer-Biomet, Abbott Laboratories, Globus Medical Inc., NuVasive, OrthofixInternationalN.V., and RTI Surgicals.

Growing competition among key players, increasing horizontal and vertical expansion is further expected to fuel the growth of Spine Surgery Market. Emerging markets like China, India and South-east Asia are growing their medical facilities and robotic research investments. These countries are also an attractive destination for low-cost medical treatments as compared to North America and Europe. These countries are expected to present an excellent opportunity for market players to market robotics products in these regions.
